Trailblazing women in
Massachusetts from
the 1700s to the present
By Diana Pinzón
LEXINGTON, Mass. —
Lexington is the birthplace of American liberty — the site of the famous “shot heard round the world.” It’s a history the town has proudly preserved, but among its many monuments, there wasn’t one dedicated to a named woman until now.
Something is Being Done is a tribute to 20 women from the 1700s to the present. Leaders who once lived and other figures representing future trailblazers are etched in bronze on the lawn in front of the Visitors Center.
