Janet Haas
Significance:
Janet Haas, musician and educator, nurtured the freedom of
artist expression through music in a career spanning 37 years,
31 of which were in Lexington. Ms. Haas was devoted to her
students, touching the lives of countless students from
elementary school through high school. Janet grew the strings
program from 16 to 215 participants in 3 orchestras. She
played in the Mystic Valley Chamber orchestra, the Boston
Philharmonic, and her students continue to play on - as
performers, professors and lifelong lovers of music.
