Summer Sew-Along Begins!

Join LexSeeHer for our Summer Apron Sew-Along! Would you like to make history & HERstory come to life this summer? Are you located in (or near!) the "Birthplace of American Liberty?" You can be part of our exciting Hands-On HerStory project! We are creating 45 aprons to recognize the 45 bold Lexington women who, in the summer of 1769, defied their King by stepping outside their homes with spinning wheels to protest unjust taxation on imported textiles. These aprons will be worn at the 2nd Spinning Tableau, which you can attend!

This summer, LexSeeHer needs your help to create the aprons which will be worn in the Spinning Tableau which will take place Saturday, August 27th.

We welcome you! To sign up as a volunteer, click this link. Kits can be picked up beginning Wednesday July 6th between 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. outside Buckman Tavern. (Volunteers also may be able to deliver & pick up.)

At our Summer Sew-Along events (in person and on Zoom), LexSeeHer volunteers can help give you tips to create the apron. Once it is sewn, bring back the apron to LexSeeHer so it can be worn for the Spinning Tableau. If you would also like to be a participant in the Tableau event, make sure to sign up as soon as possible. Spots will be given out on a first come, first served, basis.

Funding for this exciting Hands-on HerStory Apron Project is provided through a generous grant from the Community Endowment of Lexington. Thank you CEL!
